Nights In Rodanthe
Pages 129-149

In this section of reading, Paul and Adrienne realize how long it had been since they felt the feeling of love. Over many fireside chats and bottles of wine, they realize they keep making conversation over the many things that they share in common with each other. Eventually the night brought some intense emotions with it and the two hopeless romantics fell deeply in love with each other. In other words, more than just their first kiss was shared that night. Not long after the book flashes back to Adrienne sharing her love story with her daughter Amanda. This is when Amanda starts putting the pieces of the puzzle together about how Paul Flanner was such a big deal to her mother Adrienne.

The quote I pulled from this reading is the most important reason Adrienne has come so far with Paul is just this very short amount of time. "Because," he said, "you're the only reason I'd bother to come back at all."  (Page 141). When Paul is telling Adrienne this, he is explaining in a reading between the lines kind of way that he doesn't want to be without her and that she has become his new priority. This is when she knows for sure that she is willing to share herself (in a heated manner) and wants to commit to something much more meaningful with him. I know that the connection of love with continue to grow stronger, but currently in the present state that they are in together, I don't know where it will bring them next.

I chose to include this picture for two reasons. One, because not only is the book vividly describing what is happening with the weather, but is made very clear that the storm is allowing them much needed time to talk to each other. Reason two is that in this heat of the moment time for both of them I believe that the storm is also acting as a significant symbol. Not only does their relationship start brewing, just like the storm does when it is developing, but when things start to become a little more intense weather wise, so does their relationship. Finally, when the storm is at its peak, so are Adrienne and Paul. Nicholas Sparks does a great job of incorporating this element into his story line.
