Nights In Rodanthe
Pages 23-56

In this section of reading,it begins with Amanda and her mother talking and Amanda making the connection between the two people in the story that her mom is telling her. Once she realizes who the people really are, Adrienne goes on telling about how hard things had become with Amanda's father Jack after they had gotten a divorce and how she had to find a way to move on. So what she ended up doing was watching over her friend's Inn while she was away and she met this man named Paul. Adrienne had shown the man to his room and proceeded to tell him that he was the only one planned to stay there that weekend, for a big storm was coming. While talking to Paul about how to make himself more comfortable in the room he would be staying in she felt something grow. Later she would learn about the connection they had and how it impacted her later on.

The instant connection between these complete strangers made them both feel something each of them had been longing; two very random people with so much in common. "It might have been the setting or the fact that she was alone; either way, the surge of empathy was a foreign sensation, one that caught him completely off guard." (page 49). This quote I believe did a great job of explaining the sudden emotion that he felt from the minute he set eyes on Adrienne. Although he was a very unemotional person, she made him feel something he was not quite used to; something she had about her was very special and kept Paul interested. Having a personal connection with someone is a very special thing, not only does it allow you to become closer with them, but to have so much in common with each other and not know about it is even more special.

All of the books by Nicholas Sparks seem to have the same connection in terms of failing marriages with stories that end up happily ever after. Although I have not come close to finishing the book, I feel like between the character's backgrounds and the way they instantly connect, they will also end up with a happily ever after sort of fairy tale ending. In particular, the book The Notebook also by Nicholas Sparks has the same sort of beginning so far with a failing marriage and characters who slowly drift apart from each other and find new people to love and make priorities in their lives. Everyone dreams of a perfect life, a perfect marriage, and a storybook ending. But, in all reality not everything ends up the way you hope it to be.
